30 Days to Becoming Her Best Self: Seeing Yourself the Way God Sees You
Key Scripture
“For we live by faith, not by sight.” — 2 Corinthians 5:7 (NIV)

Welcome to Day 24
Our feelings are powerful.
They can make us feel confident one morning and completely discouraged by afternoon.
One conversation can make us feel appreciated.
Another can make us question ourselves.
One unexpected opportunity can fill us with hope.
One disappointment can make us wonder whether God has forgotten us.
Feelings are real, and they deserve to be acknowledged. But feelings were never meant to become the foundation upon which we build our lives.
As women seeking to become who God created us to be, we must learn an important spiritual discipline:
We can acknowledge what we feel without allowing our feelings to determine what we believe.
There will be days when you feel strong.
And days when you feel weak.
Days when you feel confident.
And days when insecurity whispers loudly.
Days when God feels incredibly close.
And days when you pray and wonder whether He hears you at all.
But God’s character does not change with your emotions.
His promises do not become less true because today is difficult.
Faith says:
“Even when my feelings change, my God does not.”
Your Feelings Are Real, but They Are Not Always Truth
One of the most important lessons we can learn is the difference between what we feel and what is true.
You may feel forgotten.
But God says:
“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” — Hebrews 13:5
You may feel incapable.
But God says:
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9
You may feel afraid.
But God says:
“Do not fear, for I am with you.” — Isaiah 41:10
You may feel uncertain about your future.
But Scripture reminds us:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart.” — Proverbs 3:5
Feelings can be influenced by exhaustion, disappointment, fear, comparison, past experiences, rejection, or even one difficult day.
God’s Word, however, remains steady.
When your emotions and God’s truth disagree, you must learn to let truth have the final word.
Faith Does Not Mean Pretending You Are Fine
Walking by faith does not mean ignoring your emotions.
God created you with emotions.
Jesus Himself experienced sorrow, compassion, anger, grief, and distress.
Faith does not require pretending everything is wonderful when your heart is hurting.
You can say:
“God, I am afraid.”
And still trust Him.
You can say:
“God, I am disappointed.”
And still worship Him.
You can say:
“God, I don’t understand.”
And still obey Him.
You can cry and still have faith.
You can grieve and still trust God.
You can feel uncertain and still take the next step.
Faith is not the absence of emotion.
Faith is choosing whom you will trust in the middle of your emotions.
Feelings Make Poor Leaders
Imagine making every major decision according to how you feel in the moment.
You would quit when you felt discouraged.
Walk away when you felt frustrated.
Give up when progress felt slow.
Say things you later regretted when you felt angry.
Avoid opportunities whenever you felt afraid.
Abandon commitments whenever motivation disappeared.
This is why spiritual maturity requires learning not to allow emotions to become our leader.
Feelings are valuable messengers.
Sometimes they reveal that we need rest.
Sometimes they alert us that something is wrong.
Sometimes they expose wounds that still need healing.
We should listen to them.
But we should bring them before God rather than automatically obeying them.
Ask:
“Lord, what is true in this situation?”
That question can completely change your response.
Faith Often Moves Before Feelings Catch Up
Sometimes we wait to feel ready before obeying God.
But throughout Scripture, people often had to move while they were still afraid.
Moses felt inadequate.
Gideon felt insignificant.
Esther faced uncertainty.
Peter stepped onto the water.
The disciples followed Jesus without knowing exactly where the journey would lead.
Their courage did not always come before obedience.
Sometimes courage came because they obeyed.
Perhaps you have been waiting to feel confident before beginning something God placed on your heart.
You may be waiting to feel fearless.
Ready.
Qualified.
Certain.
But what if God is simply asking you to take the next faithful step?
You don’t need enough courage for the entire journey.
You only need enough faith for today’s step.
Do Not Let a Difficult Day Become a False Identity
There is another danger in allowing feelings to lead us.
We begin turning temporary emotions into permanent statements about ourselves.
Instead of saying:
“I feel discouraged today,”
we say:
“I’m a failure.”
Instead of:
“I made a mistake,”
we say:
“I can’t do anything right.”
Instead of:
“I’m struggling with confidence today,”
we say:
“I’m not good enough.”
Notice the difference.
One acknowledges a temporary experience.
The other creates an identity.
You are not your worst day.
You are not your latest mistake.
You are not the criticism someone spoke over you.
You are not the fear currently passing through your mind.
Your identity has already been established by God.
You are His.
Loved.
Chosen.
Forgiven.
Redeemed.
Created with purpose.
Your emotions may change daily.
Your identity in Christ does not.
Faith Remembers What God Has Already Done
When emotions become overwhelming, sometimes the best thing we can do is remember.
Remember the prayers God has already answered.
Remember the doors He opened.
Remember the doors He closed that later turned out to be protection.
Remember the strength He gave you during seasons you thought would break you.
Remember how many difficult days you have already survived.
Remember the unexpected provision.
Remember the peace that came when circumstances still hadn’t changed.
Remember His faithfulness.
The same God who carried you then is carrying you now.
When you cannot predict what God will do next, you can still remember who He has always been.
Replace “I Feel” With “God Says”
One practical way to walk by faith is to become intentional about challenging thoughts that contradict Scripture.
When your mind says:
“I feel alone.”
Answer:
“God says He will never leave me.”
When you think:
“I feel like nothing is changing.”
Answer:
“God says He is completing the work He began in me.”
When fear says:
“I don’t know what will happen.”
Answer:
“God says I can trust Him with all my heart.”
When insecurity whispers:
“I’m not enough.”
Answer:
“God says His grace is sufficient.”
This is not positive thinking.
It is biblical thinking.
You are training your mind to agree with God’s truth instead of automatically agreeing with fear.
Faithfulness Matters More Than Motivation
There will be days when you feel inspired to pray.
And days when you don’t.
Days when you feel motivated to pursue your goals.
And days when you would rather quit.
Days when you feel patient.
And days when patience requires everything you have.
Becoming your best self cannot depend entirely on motivation.
Growth requires faithfulness.
Pray even when prayer feels difficult.
Open your Bible even when you feel distracted.
Keep the commitment even when excitement fades.
Continue the healthy habit even when progress feels slow.
Take the next step even when fear accompanies you.
The woman you are becoming is built through thousands of small choices to remain faithful.
God’s Truth Is Your Anchor
Think about an anchor.
An anchor does not stop the waves.
It keeps the boat from being carried away by them.
God’s Word works the same way.
Faith does not mean life’s emotional waves disappear.
There will still be disappointment.
Uncertainty.
Frustration.
Grief.
Excitement.
Hope.
Fear.
But Scripture gives your heart somewhere steady to remain.
When your emotions rise and fall, God’s truth keeps you grounded.
You can say:
“This is what I feel, but this is what I know.”
I feel uncertain.
But I know God is faithful.
I feel afraid.
But I know God is with me.
I feel discouraged.
But I know God is still working.
I cannot see the entire road.
But I know who is leading me.
That is what walking by faith looks like.
Reflection Questions
Spend a few quiet moments with God today and honestly consider these questions:
- What emotion has been influencing my decisions lately?
- Have I been treating a temporary feeling as though it were a permanent truth about myself?
- What does God’s Word say about the situation I am facing?
- Is there something God has asked me to do that I have postponed because I don’t feel ready?
- What is one faithful step I can take today regardless of how I feel?
Write your answers without judging yourself.
The goal is not to stop feeling.
The goal is to learn how to bring your feelings under the authority of God’s truth.
Today’s Affirmation
My feelings may change, but God’s truth remains the same. I choose to walk by faith instead of allowing fear, insecurity, or temporary emotions to lead me. My identity is secure in Christ, God’s promises are trustworthy, and I will continue taking faithful steps even when I cannot see the entire path ahead.

Today’s Action Step: Create a “Feelings vs. Truth” Page
Take a blank page in your journal and draw a line down the middle.
On the left side write:
What I Feel
On the right side write:
What God Says
Write down three emotions or thoughts you have been struggling with.
Then find a Scripture that speaks truth to each one.
For example:
I feel: “I’m alone.”
God says: “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” — Hebrews 13:5
I feel: “I’m afraid of what will happen.”
God says: “When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.” — Psalm 56:3
I feel: “I’m not strong enough.”
God says: “My grace is sufficient for you.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9
Keep this page somewhere you can return to it.
Whenever emotions begin speaking louder than truth, remind yourself:
My feelings deserve to be acknowledged, but God’s Word gets the final say.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being constant when my emotions are constantly changing. Thank You that Your truth does not depend on how I feel, what I see, or what circumstances look like around me.
Forgive me for the times I have allowed fear, insecurity, disappointment, or temporary emotions to become louder than Your promises.
Teach me to acknowledge my feelings honestly while bringing every thought and emotion before You. Give me wisdom to recognize when my feelings are revealing something I need to address and discernment to know when they are leading me away from Your truth.
When I feel afraid, remind me that You are with me.
When I feel inadequate, remind me that Your grace is sufficient.
When I feel forgotten, remind me that I am deeply loved and fully known by You.
When I cannot see what lies ahead, give me courage to continue walking by faith.
Help me become a woman who is grounded in Your Word, guided by Your Spirit, and faithful even when motivation disappears.
May my decisions reflect what I believe about You rather than simply what I feel in the moment.
Thank You for being the steady anchor of my heart and for faithfully leading me one step at a time.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Scripture to Memorize
2 Corinthians 5:7 (NIV)
“For we live by faith, not by sight.”
Carry these words with you today.
When your feelings tell you one thing and God’s Word tells you another, choose to anchor yourself in what God has spoken.
Tomorrow’s Journey
Day 25: Letting God’s Peace Guard Your Heart
Tomorrow we’ll talk about what it means to protect our hearts and minds from anxiety, overthinking, and constant worry by learning to bring everything to God in prayer and allowing His peace to become the guard over our inner lives.
Remember This Today
You do not have to deny your feelings to become a woman of faith. You can feel deeply and still trust completely. Your emotions are part of your experience, but they are not the author of your identity or the director of your future.
God’s truth is your anchor. His Word is your foundation. And even when you do not feel courageous, you can still take the next faithful step.
