Sticky Honey Garlic Chicken

This Sticky Honey Garlic Chicken is the perfect combination of sweet, savory, garlicky, and slightly spicy flavors. Bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs are generously seasoned, browned until golden, and then simmered in a rich homemade sauce made with honey, fresh garlic, ginger, Jamaican hot sauce, soy sauce, and lemon juice. As the chicken cooks, the sauce thickens into a deliciously sticky glaze that coats every juicy, tender piece.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 ½ lbs. bone in skin on chicken thighs
  • 1/8 cup honey
  • 6 tbsp water
  • 2 tbsp hot sauce I use Jamaican hot sauce
  • 2 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
  • 6 cloves of garlic minced
  • 1 tsp salt white pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp ground ginger
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4 tbsp olive oil divided 3n1
  • Pinch of fresh ginger grated
  • Juice of 1 lemon

Method
 

  1. Remove excess skin and fat from chicken, wash with white vinegar and water, or lemon juice and water. Rinse and pat dry. In a small bowl combine all the dry seasonings mix and mix well to combine. Drizzle 1 tbsp olive oil onto chicken pieces and later well onto chicken pieces. Season chicken with the seasoning mix leaving about ½ tsp for later. Cover and marinade at least 1 hour. Heat remaining 3 tbsp olive oil on medium heat, brown chicken pieces for 6 minutes on each sides. Set them aside, if you think too much oil in the pan remove some and leave at least 1 tbsp add the butter and garlic and ginger, stir continuously cooking for 1 minute making sure garlic does not burn, add the honey , hot sauce, soy sauce and water and lemon juice stir well to combine, bring to a low boil layer the chicken pieces onto the sauce, and coat them well with the sauce, cover and cook for about 15 minutes, coating them again halfway in .
  2. Tip : This can be done with boneless skinless chicken thighs as well
  3. Serve with white rice and some steam broccoli
