So many of us today are struggling with the notion of Finding our Purpose. Matter of fact my 18 year old daughter who just graduated high school a year ago is struggling with this.
My advice to my daughter at first was you are 18; you have plenty of time to figure out what your purpose in life is. I was like so many of us do not figure that out until later on in life and that is ok.
That however was not enough for her as time goes on, during different conversations I find that she was still struggling with it. As her mom this tore me up to see struggling like this, but I was not going to give up on her, so although I did not have the answers for her, I continued the conversations with her each time . I found out a big part of why she was struggling this hard is college. In her mind you graduate high school, pick a major and go to college to study for what you want to do in life.
In one conversation I said to her, so many have done that, only to later find out that is not actually want they want to do. I even gave her examples of a few known people including celebrities. This conversation became a constant between me and my daughter and as I prayed and meditated on it. I want to give you my takeaway on the topic of Purpose. First and foremost “Is it possible that so of us have made it more difficult than it really is? And what I mean by that is, I think we hear the word Purpose and we automatically think it is this big grandiose thing and that it is something God spoke to us. Do not get me wrong, I do believe there are those of us who does get that word directly from God.
But just what if our Purpose is much simpler than we think? I believe that it is God’s plan to prosper us, it clearly states that in the bible. We are also supposed to serve, serve each other.
I believe for the most part those who struggles with the idea of finding their Purpose, also struggles with how is there Purpose linked to their financial wealth. I wholeheartedly believe one can turn their passion and what they love to do into their Purpose. It is like the saying living your life on purpose. I believe the same applies to your financial life. You can turn what you do into purpose by making it purposeful. What I mean by that, if you are someone like myself, who does want to live life on purpose and who wants to build a financial Kingdom, then do so with passion, dignity, integrity and trust. Be intentional about what you do. Be sure to put people above making money truly believe it is that simple. It is about doing what you love, what you are most passionate about , what gets you going, what keeps you up at night. What if your passion is not something you have to find, it is already there and maybe because you are so focused on finding something grand you miss it. Passion can be cultivated it
